IELTS Prep — iOS

Aleksei Naumov ("Developer") built the "IELTS Prep App" as an ad-supported app with optional subscriptions. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and with whom it is shared.

1. Sharing Your Information

Developer shares personal information only with the service providers described in this policy, when required by law, or with your consent. These providers protect your information at least as well as this policy describes.

2. What Information is Collected and Why

2.1 AdMob

The app shows ads through AdMob, Google's mobile advertising platform. AdMob collects:

  • Online identifiers, including cookie identifiers
  • IP addresses
  • Device identifiers
  • Client identifiers
  • Unique device identifiers for advertising (Google Advertiser ID or IDFA, for example)
  • Usage Data

2.2 Purchases

Purchases are made through the App Store and processed by Apple; Developer does not receive your payment details. RevenueCat, the subscription management service used by the app, receives your purchase history and an app user identifier to manage your subscription.

2.3 Account and Sign-In

Signing in is optional. You can create an account with an email address and password, or sign in with Google or Apple. When you sign in, Developer stores the account's email address, display name, and sign-in method together with your learning progress, so that your progress can be restored on other devices. Accounts and synced learning progress are stored with Firebase, a service operated by Google.

To link a subscription to your account, the email address and display name are also shared with RevenueCat. You can delete your account from the app's profile screen; this permanently removes the account and its synced learning progress.

2.4 Translation

The app can translate words and passages that you select in lesson and exercise content. The selected text and the target language are sent to Developer's servers and to Google Cloud Translation. The selected text is not linked to you.

To apply daily limits, Developer counts translation requests against a random identifier of the app installation, or against your account when you are signed in. The counts are deleted automatically after a limited period.

2.5 Analytics and Ad Measurement

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase, a service operated by Google, to understand how the app is used and to measure Developer's own advertising campaigns. Google Analytics records app usage events, such as app launches, the lessons and exercises you open and complete, ads shown, sign-in actions, and feedback you submit in the app, together with an identifier assigned to the app installation, the device's advertising identifier where available, and device information such as the device model, operating system version, and country. It also records purchases you make in the app: the product, its price and currency.

RevenueCat sends purchase and subscription events, such as trial starts, renewals, and cancellations, to Google Analytics from its servers. These events are linked to the identifier that Google Analytics assigned to the app installation and, when you are signed in, to your account. Google Analytics is linked to Google Ads, so that Developer can see which of its ad campaigns lead to installs and purchases.

When you are signed in, the app passes your account's email address to the Google Analytics SDK, which uses it on your device to measure whether you installed or used the app after seeing an ad for it. Google states that the email address is not sent off your device in a way that identifies you.

2.6 Crash Reports

When the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report to Firebase Crashlytics, a service operated by Google. The report contains the error, device information, and an identifier assigned to the app installation.

Security

Developer uses commercially reasonable means to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.
